Gullal

Built around the Holi legend of Radha and Krishna. Young Krishna, self-conscious about his darker complexion next to Radha's, is smeared with the same colored powder by his mother, who tells him "now you are both the same." Grapefruit and pink pepper open into fennel and orris (echoing thandai, Holi's traditional celebratory drink), with a hint of incense meant to recall the bonfire of Holika Dahan the night before.
